Series 4100 Lightweight Emergency Tent (LWET) Description

Our Series 4100 Relief Shelter incorporates numerous design enhancements to the “Tunnel Tent” that is widely used in the Relief Sector. Our advanced design significantly improves the performance of the shelter during inclement weather conditions by increased fabric tensioning and greater stability.

The tent is semi-circular or tunnel shaped with a center height of 210cm, width of 345cm and a length of 550 cm. The tent consists of two separate parts, an outer waterproof shell and an inner tent. The outer shell is supported by fiberglass tension rods and provides protection for the inner tent from the weather. The inner tent has an integrated floor and is supported by/hung from the outer shell.

Features

  • General Description of Outer Shell
The outer shell consists of 4 panel sections made from multiple shingled fabric pieces that form the general tunnel shape of the tent. Each piece incorporates geometry that, once sewn,
increases tension of the outer fly to maximize performance in wind and snow loads.
  • General Description of the Inner Tent
The inner tent is the same shape as the outer shell but is 24cm narrower and 12cm shorter in height. This assures a gap of 12cm between the outer shell and the inner tent for air flow. There is a door at each end of the tent and 4 window openings. The interior of the tent has a divider system which allows for increased privacy. The bathtub floor is made of PVC coated polyester and is sewn to the inner tent to assure the inside remains waterproof.
  • Windows
The four windows have flaps that fully cover them and are equipped with hook and loop fasteners along the entire length of the vertical sides and bottom. The flap in the
open position makes the window area fully accessible.

  • Guy Line Attachment System
The outer shell is anchored to the ground using 18 guy lines which are attached to 14 metal stakes. There are 4 guy lines on each end and 5 on each side of the tent.
  • Inner Tent Suspension System
The inner tent is suspended from the inside of the outer shell. This is accomplished with a connecting mechanism that runs under each of the 5 tension rods.
  • Outer Doors
There is one door at each end of the tent. Finished opening are 120cm wide and 170cm in height when measured from the ground. The vertical sides of the door are closed with a zipper that can be opened from the inside and outside of the tent. There is a 75mm flap which covers the zippers.
  • Inner Doors
There is an inner door of the same dimensions as the outer door which is made of mosquito netting. The bottom of the inner door extends below the level of the door opening and is closed with a single piece of hook and loop fastener.
